Letter to an unidentified agent out purchasing cotton on behalf of the firm, re concern for safekeeping of cotton as Federal troops advance, "cotton is the first thing to [be] burn[ed] by the Yankees when on a raid & this is becoming a matter of alarm to the planter and it will induce many to sell to get it out of the way ...
